Overview

Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO) is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the availability and quality of health care in developing countries through the training and education of local health care providers. HVO was incorporated in Washington, DC in 1986.

Governance

HVO is governed by a Board of Directors which is responsible for overseeing the organization's growth and financial health, as well as setting the strategic direction and vision for the organization and operational policies. All members of the Board serve without compensation. Day-to-day management of the organization is delegated to the Executive Director who reports to the Board of Directors.

  • HVO is a registered Private Voluntary Organization with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
  • HVO is a member of Global Impact, a federation of America's leading international humanitarian agencies promoting self-sufficiency through programs in disaster relief, education, health and economic development.
