HAND SURGERY & HAND THERAPY

Managua, Nicaragua - Managua, Nicaragua - Hospital Escuela Antonio Lenin Fonseca, Hospital Militar Escuela and Hospital Fernando Velez Paiz

This joint hand surgery/hand therapyprogram augments the training for hand therapists and surgeons. Volunteers are involved in training through lecturing, conducting rounds, demonstrating specialty expertise, and attending weekly conferences for staff, residents, and hand therapists.  Volunteers act as consultants in the out-patient clinic and provide clinical instruction.  Hand surgery volunteers must be board certified in orthopaedics, plastics, or general surgery.  Hand therapy volunteers must be licensed in physical or occupational therapy and specialize in hand therapy or be certified hand therapists.   Assignments are 1 week in length.

To learn more about these programs, contact the HVO office and speak to a recruiter or fill out a Contact Us form. Copies of the complete program description are available on the HVO KnowNET. To find further information on volunteering with HVO visit the Volunteer Toolkit.
